IND vs ENG 4th Test Day 2: England fights back
Day 2 of the Ind vs ENG 4th test completely belongs to England. The day started with the early wicket of Jadeja from Archer but after that Stokes delivered with the ball. The English skipper claimed a fifer and he is at the top of the most wickets taken table. Rishabh Pant despite being injured comes out to bat and made a fifty, Shardul Thakur also played a decent knock of 41 runs but Stokes stole the show with the ball then when England came out to bat, Indian bowlers were completely out of rhythm and Duckett & Crawley gave ENG a rollicking start with both scoring half centuries.
England’s best batter Joe Root and Ollie Pope are the crease and they will look to score 500+ with the batting depth that England have. The 40 overs Old Duke ball started to reverse swing in the last few overs yesterday so, India will be hoping to take few wickets early on Day 3 especially from their main man Bumrah.
Match Situation
England: 225/2 (Trail by 133 runs, 8 wickets remaining)
Series status: England lead the series 2–1 and are closing in on a series-deciding performance.
Heading into Day 3, India need early breakthroughs to avoid conceding a big first-innings deficit.
Tactical Insights
India’s bowling shortcomings: Inconsistent lengths and lack of rhythm from Bumrah, Siraj, and Kamboj allowed the openers to settle early. Their inability to strike regularly meant clean churn was missed
England’s strategy: Calm aggression at the top and smart use of conditions enabled them to neutralize India’s seamers.
Mental edge: England carry momentum, while India will need to regroup mentally and tactically overnight.
Expectations from Day 3
I am hoping that Jaspreet Bumrah will come hard today on English batters with the old ball as reverse swing was seen yesterday evening, Bumrah yorkers and in cutters won’t be easy to handle. But India will also need support from other bowlers who looked completely out of colour yesterday.
Manchestor Old Trafford Weather:
According to BBC Weather , there are very less chances of rain on Day 3 as the temperature will be hovering around 20 degree celcius throughout the day.
“Time will tell how things turn out” but for now England are on the driving seat.
