India finished the day with 264/4 after 83 overs of play. Batters getting runs and bowlers getting purchase that certainly indicates this is going to be a very good match. Every India batters got the start but none converted into a big score. Jaiswal and Sudarshan made 50 each, Rahul getting out on 46 because of brilliant control bowling from Chris Woakes and a good catch from Zak Crawley in the slips.
The major focus of Day 1 was the injury of Rishabh Pant. Rishabh Pant was hit on the toe while sweeping on the ball of Chris Woakes but this is how he plays. He was unable to bat and got retired out, by the looks of the injury it is highly unlikely that he will come to bat on Day 2 also.
The top three of India got runs but none converted into a big score.
Jaiswal was struggling initially but he adjusted and played against his natural game.
KL Rahul was looking for all money in his total of 46 runs but got out while playing a back-foot punch and caught in the slips.
Sai Sudarshan or better say Run Sudarshan, he is the real talent for India in the modern Era but played a false shot at Ben Stokes.
Jadeja and Shardul Thakur are at the crease and IND will look to score around 400 runs from here.
Let’s see with Washy Sundar to come , how will India go from here.
On the other hand, England will look to strike early in the morning with Jofra Archer and Woakes. Liam Dawson is also getting some purchase from the pitch, Jadeja and Washington must be accessing as well as Old Trafford Manchestor is always being a ground where we reverse swing more than any ground in England. And no one better than Jaspreet Bumrah in the world when it comes to reverse swing bowling.
Let’s see what the future holds whether Rishabh comes again to bat? How many runs India could score from here .
Thanks for the read.
