
India vs England, 4th Test Match Day 4: India’s captain Shubman Gill playing a match defining knock for India preventing England from clinching series victory in the fourth Test Match at Old Trafford on Saturday, after English skipper Ben Stokes made a brilliant Century in First innings for England.
Gill’s cautious from the start of his innings, as India lost their two wickets early to Chris Woakes in the second innings. When he came to bat India were 0/2 because Jaiswal and Sai Sudarshan both went for duck in their second innings.
Trailing by over 300 runs after England’s formidable first innings total of 669, highlighted by Root and Stokes brilliant Centuries. Through a series of twist, India closed the Day 4 at 174/2, with KL Rahul on 87 not out and Gill on 78 not out, leaving India 137 runs behind. While still in deficit, India will be aiming to close this match into a draw.
Ben Stokes didn’t bowled himself on Saturday given his past record of hamstring injuries, even taking 5 wickets in the first innings. He is the only fourth player from England who took a fifer and scored a century in a test match.
What Ahead on Day 5:
Shubman Gill and KL Rahul will look to continue their resilience on Day 5 and bat till tea. India’s batting lineups is thin, with Pant also being injured, his participation in second innings is unknown. Jadeja is the glue who can bat long lower down the order, he’s been great in this series.
On the other hand, England hope Jofra Archer and Liam Dawson to fold out India quickly if not in deficit so that they can chase quick and Win the series before playing the 5th test.
