So, the match started on Thursday morning and it was gloomy, dumpy throughout the day. England won the toss and elected to bowl first on a pitch which was offering too much for the pacers and they bowled out India for 224 on Day 2 morning with Gus Atkinson claiming a fabulous fifer on his comeback, Josh tongue also picked up 3 wickets.
England started the chase with a bang Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley were scoring at a rate of 7 runs per over. There were movement available on the pitch but the assault from both England openers completely dismantle the line-length of Indian seamers. The battle between Ben Duckett and Akashdeep was one to look for, Akashdeep coming from round the wicket attacking Duckett pads and edges in the first over was denied by last ball six behind the wicket. That given Duckett the momentum and after that there were no stopping for both the openers. They made 92 runs between them before Duckett got caught out behind the wickets playing a cheeky shot. This summed up the Day 2 first session which was totally in favour of the hosts.
Day 2 Session 2: It was the session where major things happened which will decide the virtue of the 5th Test. By falling behind in the 1st session, Indian seamers came up with firing zeal and confidence especially Siraj. He was right on the money from ball one which yield the results for India comeback. He took the wickets of Ollie Pope, Jacob Bethell and Joe Root by trapping them on the pads in this session. On the other end, Prashidh Krishna took the wicket of Zak Crawley who was looking to get a big total. The hopes of big lead after 1st session were completely denied by the extraordinary bowling performances from the Indian seamers.
And England got bowled out for 247 with 23 runs lead.
In the last hour of the Day 2, KL Rahul and Sai Sudarshan got out cheap. Jaiswal was batting good made half-century and is not out with the nightwatchman Akashdeep at the other end.

What’s Ahead on Day 3:
According to BBC, Weather on Day 3 is set to be fair with no chance of rain but there will be some cloud cover throughout the day.
Now let’s talk about the current match scenario so, right now India is having a 52 runs lead over the hosts, they will look to bat the whole day 3 and put up a big total on the board as England is one seamer short with Chris Woakes declared to not take any further part in the 5th test, he was injured while fielding. Indian batting lineups still have some decent scorers to come – Shubman Gill, Karun Gill, Jadeja and Washington.
Lets see how the day 3 unfolds, will India take a big lead or England seamers build early inroads.
Thanks for the read.
